FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

How is my  t-shirt quilt made?

Your t-shirt quilt is custom-designed to best showcase YOUR t-shirts!
We will:

  • supply the borders, sashing, backing and binding using the highest quality cotton fabric.
  • use the highest quality thread
  • apply high quality stabilizing interfacing to each block
  • use the highest quality cotton/poly blend batting
  • quilt it on a longarm quilting machine by a Professional Longarm Quilter
  • provide optional label and/or hanging sleeve on the back of your quilt for small additional fees

How long does it take to get my t-shirt quilt?

We can usually have your T-shirt quilt ready to return to you in approximately 4 weeks after we receive your shirts.  At certain high volume times of the year, such as Christmas and Graduation, our "turn-around" may be longer.

We will include deadlines on this web site when appropriate. If you need your quilt by a certain date, please let us know when ordering. Rush delivery is available for an additional cost.  If you need a quilt for a special occasion such as an anniversary, graduation, Christmas, etc. please allow plenty of time so that you won't be disappointed.

What about the color of fabric used?

We will pick the color of fabric that best compliments the T-shirts used.  However, if you have a certain color scheme you wish to have, just let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.   If you would like to provide your own fabric (i.e. themed fabric) contact us for quantity needed. If you are in the Northwest Houston area, you are more than welcome to visit our studio and make your fabric choices from the 100's of bolts in stock.

How much does it cost?

The cost of the quilt is based on the size and number of t-shirts used. Please see our pricing chart on the Order page. Price for basic quilt is all inclusive with no hidden costs.

What do I have to do with my t-shirts before I send them to you?

The shirts should be laundered before being sent to us (including brand new shirts).  Just remember that stains on the shirts will show on the quilt.  Please send the shirts intact and we will cut the graphic out making sure that the graphic is centered as much as possible.

If  front and back of a shirt are to be used, please make a note and attach it ("sticky notes" sometimes come off during shipping!) to the shirt.  Masking Tape works best and is easiest for us to work with. Each graphic will count as one block (i.e., if a shirt has graphics on the front and back that you want included in your quilt, it will count as 2 blocks).  Also, don't forget about the smaller graphics on the pockets and sleeves.  We can combine several of them together to make one block.**

**Additional charges apply.

Can I add a photo to my quilt?

Yes! We can include one or more photos in your quilt. Simply send us your digital photos (800x600 dpi minimum) on CD or via email, and we will incoporate the photo into a t-shirt block for an additional $10.00 per photo. If I print the photo, there is an additional $25 charge to cover ink, special fabric, photo editing, and time. You can either email a photo or provide the original photo. Please make sure to follow the manufacturers instructions for printing on fabric. Most require that you print using an INKJET printer, not a laser jet printer.

Can more than one graphic (i.e. pocket or sleeve logos) be used to make a block?

We can combine any number of smaller graphics to make one block.  There is a charge of $5.00 per additional graphic if more than one is used per block.  Please indicate clearly which graphics you desire to have combined, and in what order if you have a preference.  We have used as few as 2 and as many as 6 total graphics. (Pricing for 6 small logos in one block  would be the price for 1 block plus $5.00 times the 5 additional blocks).

How are the front and back of the quilt held together?

Each quilt includes batting and is quilted throughout for stability and asthetics. We are one of the few t-shirt quilt companies that provides PROFESSIONAL quality quilting. Many just stich the front and back together at the corners of each shirt. PROFESSIONAL quality quilting is a very important feature that makes a t-shirt quilt last.

I want to make my child a quilt but I have shirts from toddler size up to adult large, can these be used together?

Yes, we can either add strips of other fabric around smaller pieces or applique the smaller pieces onto squares of fabric. There is an extra charge for this.

I tried to make a quilt myself and things just didn't work out right. Can you take my mess and make it into a quilt?

Yes, we can take your pieces of t-shirts etc. and turn them into a quilt for you. It may cost a little more depending on how the shirts are cut, but we have yet to see a project we couldn't finish.

My Father had a lot of neckties. Can these be added to the quilt?

Yes, we can take your neckties and applique them to the blocks in the quilt. You might want to use one his dress shirts as the background (instead of a t-shirt).
